LOCAL MEMBER EXCHANGE

Tessa’s Marketplace Terms

These rules apply when paid members publish, browse, message or arrange a local trade, sale, donation or recycling handoff.

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2026
No platform transactions: Tessa’s Marketplace does not process purchases, hold funds, collect seller bank information, take a marketplace fee, guarantee an exchange or supervise a meetup. Members make their own local arrangements.

1. Paid-member eligibility

Marketplace browsing, listing and messaging require an active paid Tessa’s membership and an account holder who is at least 18. Membership helps create accountability but is not a background check, identity guarantee, insurance policy or promise that another member is safe or trustworthy.

The Donate, Recycle and Hauling finder may direct members to independent local organizations. Those organizations are not endorsed, controlled or guaranteed by Tessa’s.

2. Private inventory stays private

Household inventory, replacement values, serial numbers, exact locations, appraisal documents, insurance information and device-vault photos never become Marketplace content automatically. A member must deliberately create and publish a separate listing.

A listing may display the chosen item photo, description, condition, city-level location and shortened member display name. Do not publish an address, phone number, email, financial information, exact storage location, access code, daily schedule or image that reveals sensitive documents or valuables nearby.

3. Listing promises

You must own or be authorized to exchange the item and describe it honestly, including condition, damage, authenticity and known safety issues. Trade listings should clearly say what you are looking for. Sell listings may show an asking price, but payment is arranged independently and never through Tessa’s.

Do not list counterfeit, stolen, recalled, hazardous, contaminated or illegal goods; weapons; controlled substances; prescription or over-the-counter medicine; opened personal-care products; unsafe children’s products; personal records; or anything that violates another person’s rights.

4. Local arrangements and safety

Use private in-app messages first. Meet in a public, well-lit place, bring another adult when appropriate, tell someone your plan, do not enter a stranger’s home, inspect the item before exchanging, and leave immediately if anything feels wrong. Never send deposits, gift cards, verification codes or payment credentials in messages.

Members are responsible for payment choice, taxes, transportation, lifting, installation, title transfer, condition inspection and legal compliance. Tessa’s is not a party to the exchange and does not resolve payment chargebacks or offline cash disputes.

5. Listing content and no advertising

You retain ownership of listing content and give Tessa’s a limited license to host and display it to signed-in paid members while the listing or a safety review remains active. Member listings are community exchange content, not paid advertising. No member, brand or organization can buy ranking, sponsorship or preferential placement.

6. Reports and enforcement

We may remove a listing, preserve relevant safety records, restrict Marketplace access or suspend an account when reasonably necessary to address fraud, harassment, danger, illegality or policy violations. Marketplace access may end immediately when paid membership ends.
