How to Track Warranties, Receipts and Appraisals

A warranty is useful only when you can find the contract, prove the purchase and know whether coverage is active. One register should connect each plan to the item it protects.
STEP 01

Name the covered item

Link the plan to the appliance, vehicle, system or household item. Save the brand, model, serial number and purchase date beside the coverage record.

STEP 02

Capture the real terms

Record the provider, contract number, start and end dates, deductible or service fee, contact details and the actions required to make a claim.

STEP 03

Keep every document together

Attach the receipt, manufacturer warranty, extended plan, home-warranty agreement, appraisal or repair history. Preserve the original PDF when possible.

STEP 04

Review expirations

Check active, expiring-soon and expired plans in one schedule. Before renewing, compare the price and exclusions with the current replacement value of the covered item.
